Letter from Mission President

Dear Parents of Elder Quinn,

Sister Brown and I write simply to inform you that your son is doing very well and is enjoying his time here in Finland. He has completed a year of his missionary service, having had the opportunity to completely dedicate his time, talents, and efforts in service to the Lord. What a joy it is to share this milestone with you. The promises given to those in missionary service and their families are great and varied. A few come to mind at this time from the 31st section of the Doctrine and Covenants such as, “your sins are forgiven you,’ ‘your family shall live,’ ; “it shall be given you by the Comforter what you shall do,’ and on and on the promises go. We thank you for raising such a fine missionary and for your continued love and support for him.

As you know, Elder Quinn has been serving as the Helsinki district leader for the past several weeks. Also, he was assigned as the trainer of a new missionary as well. This is a big responsibility and he is a model for other missionaries to follow. One of the greatest expressions of trust that can be given to any missionary is to assign him as the trainer of a new missionary. I am proud of what he has accomplished and the kind of man he has become. His sweet humble attitude serves him well and other missionaries look up to him. They readily see in him the Christ-like attributes that make a good missionary. As a family, please pray for him in this weighty responsibility as he continues to serve the Finnish people and serve as trainer and district leader. His language skills have progressed exceptionally well and we look forward to the contribution he will yet make in this mission.

We are grateful for Elder Quinn’s dedicated service, and tell you that he is always willing to fulfill any task with excitement, energy, and with a smile on his face. Please do not worry and please do not fear. This is the work of the true and living God. Your son has faithfully accepted His call. WE know you have prayed and cried and prayed some more for your missionary. Now be at peace. Let faith work its miracle in you and for you just the way you want it for your missionary, his investigators, and everyone else engaged in this marvelous ministry. May the Lord bless you and your loved ones as we all strive to do His work.
